Families

The following file contains general, public information on Devilshire's most prominent families. There are specific files on each family containing more in depth information, including secrets and occult interests. Please note that family secrets are family secrets for a reason. While the Swanns might think that the Devlins are evil, the majority of people in the town think the Swann-Devlin conflict is somewhat silly with two old families having a rivalry over some slight neither one really remembers, so bringing it up to every person they meet is probably only going to get a roll of the eyes and a 'Oh those Swanns are on about nothing again.'

The Devlins

The town's founding family, they remain patrons of Devilshire and Devilshire University. The Devlins are also the driving force behind the Seekers of Biblical Truth Church. Nearly every family with deep roots in Devilshire has a drop of Devlin blood in them. Even the Swanns, much to their chagrin!

The Swanns

While not wealthy like the Devlins the Swanns are an active part of the community. Swanns traditionally serve the town in one way or another; they can be found as teachers, police officers, members of the volunteer fire department, dog catchers, selectmen, scout leaders, and more. They are the largest family in town, what with being middle class or lower and not really caring who marries who.

The Moores

A wealthy family that set up shop in Devilshire during the Great Depression. The Moores tend to be aloof from the rest of the town. They rarely participate in town events unless they've planned them themselves and don't serve in public office, though they do have a seat on the Devilshire University board. They also don't seem to attend any local church. Town residents whisper about unsavory activities, but mostly that's seen as the sour grapes of those less affluent.

The Hargets

The Harget clan defines the term WASP. They are all of anglo-saxon descent and marriages outside of the British-descended gene pool are frowned upon. They all attend the local Episcopalian church and a Harget will often be on the board of selectmen. Usually the men are rarely found in jobs that don't involve a white collar and a tie. The women are usually found at home, keeping the place spotless and looking pretty at public functions. Only recently have some female Hargets started to rebel.
