Magic spells are broken down into nine distinctive Power Levels, 1-9 and variable. All magic spells listed are Staff Approved for Roleplay. A combination of these magic spells construct a magic user's grimoire. This page features the Magic Spells for Power Level 5 through Power Level 8. Lower Magic Spells are located at Magic Spells A.
For magic spells with Resists on them, the SLs of the resist are subtracted from the SLs of the casting roll, just like in combat, to determine both duration of spell and damage.
Power Level V
Anti-Magic Protection
Quick Cast: No
Requirements: Continual chanting of a Sumerian verse.
Effect: People, of the caster's choosing, is completely protected from all
direct magical effects. Those people do need to be within ten yards of the
caster. The caster must continually chant for the magic to work. Once she
stops the spell ends.
Blessing of the Earth Mother
Quick Cast: Yes
Requirements: A minute long ritual in which the caster calls upon the four elements to intercede for her with the Earth Mother. Quick Casters only need to raise their hands to the sky and call out 'Mother Earth, I invoke thee!'
Effect: The spell taps into the natural magic energies of the Earth. The caster pulls that energy into her body, enhancing her physical attributes. She gains a pool of temporary attribute points equal to the number of success she gained
on her casting roll. The maximum size of the pool is six. The temporary attribute points can be distributed among Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution. No attribute may be raised more than two points and attributes can not be raised above six. For example, with five successes a caster can raise her Strength by two, her Dexterity by two, and her Constitution by one. The spell lasts for one turn per success level. Any damage while the spell is in effect remains after it wears off.

Blocking the Mouth
Quick Cast: No
Requirements: A doll with a personal effect of the victim attached. A gag. A
one hour ritual.
Effect: The victim's mouth is removed entirely. The victim has no way to
speak, eat, or drink without medical assistance. The spell lasts until it is
undone. This spell only works on humans (including enchanted ones).
Resist: Willpower/Occultism
Brigid's Binding
Quick Cast: Yes
Requirements: Quickcasters must gesture towards the person while focusing on Brigid, all others must spend a round chanting before gesturing.
Effect: A bolt of the caster's aura is released from the caster's hand towards the victim and if successful a restraint of the colour of the caster's around surrounds them lifting them into the air. This binding holds their arms still as they hover in the air. A caster is unable to use any of their abilities while they're in this binding. After being bound a person must make a will/will/-<initial SLs> to break free. Also, if someone strikes the person bound, the spell is immediately cancelled.
A player gets initial dodge to avoid the spell.
NOTE: This spell provides no protection to the person being held.

Demonic Blindness
Quick Cast: Yes
Requirements: Powder made from amber, mandrake root, and demon blood. The
caster blows the powder into an area and prays to the blind goddess Cadria.
Effect: The targets are completely unable to see or hear demons of any form.
The spell lasts 24 hours or until the counter spell is cast.
Resist: Willpower/Occultism
Early Warning
Quick Cast: No
Requirements: The caster draws a line of symbols in colored sand around the
area to be protected and says a short incantation.
Effect: Anyone inside the circle is warned if an exceptionally powerful demon
or Hellgod comes within 100 feet. The spell is good for one warning and is
guaranteed to wake up anyone who is capable of being awake inside the circle.
The sand doesn't need to stay in place once the spell is cast.
Energy Barrier
Quick Cast: No
Requirements: A lengthy Latin ritual.
Effect: A barrier surrounds the area. No one living or undead can enter or
leave, though inanimate objects can easily go through. By raising the spell's
power level by one, a portal keyed to a password can be added to the barrier.
End Demonic Blindness
Quick Cast: Yes
Requirements: A chant to the blind-goddess Cadria.
Effect: This spell instantly reverses the Demonic Blindness spell.
Finding the Lost
Quick Cast: No
Requirements: Two casters. A representation of what was lost. Handful of pure,
sacred sand. A supplication to Eyrishon the endless one. One of the casters
must know exactly where and when the item was lost.
Effect: The spell reaches through time and space to recover lost or destroyed
items. Because the spell might access parallel dimensions, it might create a
copy of the item in question and not bring the original item itself. When the
spell goes wrong it might summon a doppleganger of a person from another
dimension but it can't be used to do this on purpose.
Fire Shield
Quick Cast: Yes
Requirements: Non Quick Casters must use a Poi which is constructed from chain, with balls on the end. They are filled with kevlar blend wicks, sometimes also stuffed on the inside with more absorbing non-melting material such as cotton and soaked with fuel. They must light the poi on fire and start swinging the poi through the air while they channel the magic and recite the ritual of elemental fire protection. Quick Casters just have to point a finger and spin around while invoking the protection of elemental fire and saying 'incendia servo'. When the sphere is created the caster can transfer the shield to another target.
Effect: The target is surrounded by a sphere of fire. The fire does not burn the target. The fire sphere does casters willpower x success levels in damage each time someone comes in contact with the fire shield. If target does a combat manuever that comes in contact with an enemy they also take damage from the fire shield. Vampires and things vulnerable to fire must succeed in a willpower roll versus successes of casting roll in order to attack the target. Any flammable clothes that come in contact with the fire shield are set on fire.

Lifting the Veil
Quick Cast: Yes
Requirements: A potion of wolfsbane, satyrion root, a toadstone, and pure
water. A short incantation in German.
Effect: The bottle is thrown while the German is invoked. The fumes from the
bottle rise up and banish most illusions. Spells power level 6 or greater are
immune. So, too, are illusions created by very powerful magical beings. This
also causes beings disguised as human to revert to their true form, including
vampires and demons. It does not affect werewolves. Those affected cannot cast
another illusion or change their shape for one hour.
Lover's Sacrifice
Quick Cast: Yes
Requirements: Twin items of some sort, or a pair. IE: Wedding Rings or two necklaces that are one half of a heart. Quick Casters just need to say the incantation.
Effect: To activate the caster touches the item that connects the two and says the incantation. "My heart is your heart, your pain is my pain. I protect you." When activated, the spell creates a momentary blue transparent barrier in the aura around the target and a red transparent barrier in the aura around the caster. The barriers then dissolve into the respective people. For as many rounds as the success levels all damage taken by the target who received the blue barrier is transferred to the caster who had the red barrier.
History: There was a woman who was married to a strong warrior. Her husband was commissioned to fight one last battle for the King. If he won, afterwards he would be rewarded with land and would be allowed to live his life on the farm to raise his family. The woman was a witch and desired to get her husband home safe. She created this spell to protect her husband. She cast the spell on their wedding rings and while he was in battle she activated it. But with magic there is always a price; the spell did it's job in that her husband was protected from damage, but the damage had to go somewhere. She took the damage into herself and it ended up killing her. The warrior came home with victory to find his beloved wife dead. He took his own life to join her forever.

Magical Disguise
Quick Cast: No
Requirements: The caster recites a short incantation for one minute.
Effect: The target looks like someone or something else. Only the body
changes. The clothes do not (though they seem to fit the new body if it is
smaller or larger). The spell lasts two hours per success level.
Mental Communication
Quick Cast: Yes
Requirements: The caster looks at and whispers the names of up to ten people
she wants to telepathically communicate with. Then she whispers a prayer to
Mercury.
Effect: Until the next sunrise or sundown (whichever comes first) the caster
can telepathically communicate with the people she chose so long as she can
see the person (even if through a camera or lens). This communication can be
broadcast to everyone the caster picked or just to specific minds in her
'network'. This does not allow mind reading and can be overheard by telepaths.
Passion of the Huntress
Quick Cast: No
Requirements: A personal item of the target, a symbol representing the gender
of the target written in red chalk, a candle with the target's name written on
it, a boiling cauldron with herbs, a picture of the target, fifteen minutes of
calling upon the goddess Diana.
Effect: Over a two day period the target becomes infatuated with a designated
person. The infatuation grows dangerous, with the target growing willing to do
anything to have the designated person... or keep someone else from having
her. The spell lasts months, usually, before it wears off. Even if the spell
is undone, the target remembers the infatuation and is usually pissed with the
poor designated person.

Phoenix Strike
Quick Cast: Yes
Requirements: Lengthy ritual which requires a Peacock Feather annointed in oil and ash from a burned branch of Yew and blessed. The entire ritual takes 30 minutes for a non-Quick Caster. Quick Casters do not need the feather and simply need to make a hand gesture in the symbol of the phoenix and invoke it's power.
Effect: The Phoenix has always been known for it's connection to the fire spirits. The caster must first take a Peacock feather and annoint it with oil and then dipped in the ash of a Yew branch. Then a small ritual must bless the feather and imbue it with the powers of the phoenix. When the ritual is over the peacock feather will turn a crimson red. To cast the spell the caster must move the blessed feather in a gesture making the symbol of a phoenix in the air and focus on the target. The feather will be set ablaze and the spirit of the phoenix will fly from it. The flame will look like the bird of fire and it will fly at incredible speed into any target within visual range burning them with it's powerful fire doing 3xWillpower per success level, Double for Vampires and creatures who are vulnverable to fire and set flammable objects on fire. The feather can be used only as many times as the person who blessed it's casting level.

Portal Spell
Quick Cast: Yes
Requirements: An area where the fabric between dimensions is weak. Some
chanting.
Effect: A portal is opened between this dimension and another. Unless the
people going through have a way to stay together (they're all in a box
together, for example) they may end up in different places in the new
dimension. Spacetime is quirky that way.
Quenching Lust's Fires
Quick Cast: No
Requirements: Boil skink root, essence of rose thorn, and raven feathers in a
pot. Chant an invocation.
Effect: Everyone who breathes in the fumes while the invocation is chanted is
instantly freed from any infatuations or lusts that affect her. It cannot take
away feelings of real love.
Red in Tooth and Claw
Quick Cast: No
Requirements: A mixture consisting of ground moonstone shards, Wolfsbane and the ground tooth or claw of a werewolf must be mixed in a silver cup full of spring water and ingested by the target.
Effect: By drawing on the power of the moon and the wolf, the target is partially transformed into a werewolf. Her teeth and nails are become like the claws and teeth a wolf. She may bite and slash as a werewolf does (2 X STR slicing damage). The transformation is by no means complete or permanent. It only gives the recipient the teeth and claws of the wolf but leaving her in all other ways human. Thus the target does not gain any of the other traits or abilities of he werewolf. At the end of the spell's duration (one minute per success level), the target transforms back to her normal form.

Reverse Witch's Spell
Quick Cast: No
Requirements: Eye of newt, boiling water in a cauldron or pot, a personal
object belonging to the target.
Effect: The ritual takes twenty minutes to cast. After ten minutes the caster knows roughly where the witch in question is. After twenty minutes all ongoing magical effects the witch has cast (though not instant effects such as healing or damage). This spell only affects spells cast by witches, sorcerers, or wizards.
Spell of Blindness
Quick Cast: No
Requirements: A doll with a personal effect of the target tied to it. One hour
of ritual.
Effect: This spell blinds whoever the target is until the effect is dispelled
or reversed.
Resist: Willpower/Occultism
Summon Serpents
Quick Cast: Yes
Requirements: Quick Casters make a short incantation and a gesture. Other
casters need to perform a ten minute ritual.
Effect: A group of very poisonous snakes are summoned at the indicated
location. The serpents will attack everyone nearby except the caster. The
number of snakes summoned is equal to the success levels of the casting roll.
The strength of the poison is also equal to the success levels of the casting
roll and anyone bit must make one check a minute per every ten minutes. The
caster can banish the snakes at any time. Otherwise, they vanish in one hour.
The Mind's Trap
Quick Cast: Yes
Requirements: A Quick Caster must point at her victim and say the word 'Seachmall' , all others must anoint their eyes with a mixture of cactus juice and sea salt and spend 5 minutes chanting.
Effect: The victim is allowed a single roll of willpower/willpower minus the successes of the spell. If the roll to successfully cast the spell is higher than the successes of the roll to resist the person is trapped within their own mind, and will see a series of events from their past and will be completely unaware of their surroundings until the spell is completed. If the roll to resist is higher, the person sees the world as though they were looking through thick blue glass but can move around as normal.

Power Level VI
Air Become Fist
Quick Cast: Yes
Requirements: Quick Casters punch the air and shout 'Air Become Fist!' in
Russian. Everyone else gestures for several minutes.
Effect: An invisible force punches the target, doing 2xWillpower per success
level damage. The target is also thrown back a number of rounds equal to the
caster's Willpower x the success levels. Large objects, such as a vehicle, can
be moved one yard per success level. Breakable objects such as mirrors just
shatter.
Resist: Dodge
Bloodstone Vengeance Spell
Quick Cast: No
Requirements: A personal effect of the target. One hour of ritual.
Effect: Every hour after casting this spell drains away one Constitution
point. When the target reaches zero Constitution points she dies. During the
first hour or two she will appear to be increasingly drunk, which can mask the
actual problem. Once the spell is undone the target gains back all lost
Constitution in seconds.
Resist: Constitution/Constitution
Dimensional Repair
Quick Cast: No
Requirements: The precise location of the dimensional wall damage, some
powder, a demonic language invocation.
Effect: Lightning appears and repairs the holes and tears in the fabric of
reality. Go you!
Energy Transfer
Quick Cast: Yes
Requirements: The caster touches two people. Quick Casters say a few words.
Others chant for several minutes.
Effect: The spell transfers magical energy between two people. It can be used
to transfer magical ability, cutting the target's casting quality in half
while boosting the beneficiaries casting quality by the same amount. It can
also be used to pull energy from powerful demons and Hellgods or reverse the
effects of strength draining spells.
Resist: Willpower/Occultism
Hacking the System
Quick Cast: Yes
Requirements: A person quickcasting the spell must touch the target computer and focus on it, all others must surround themselves in a pentacle of candles and focus on the keyboard as they touch it.
Effect: The caster can utilize a computer to access information stored on it and hack through the system for a number of minutes equal to the SLs on their casting roll. The person utilizing the spell can get through any security measures within minutes. The data is processed through the caster's mind and leaves the data behind for them to recall which still takes time to perform.

Lightning Bolt
Quick Cast: Yes
Requirements: Access to the book 'Darkest Magick' (a very rare black magic
tome). Half an hour of gesturing. Quick Casters can do it with a simple
gesture.
Effect: Lightning strikes the victim, doing 5 x Willpower per success level
points of damage. This is major ouch. The range is line of sight.
Resist: Dodge
Make Corporeal
Quick Cast: No
Requirements: The requirements vary according to the demon being made
corporeal. See staff.
Effect: A demon that is normally incorporeal becomes corporeal.
Rekindle Love's Flame
Quick Cast: No
Requirements: Boil skink root, essence of rose thorn, and canary feathers in a
pot while chanting an invocation.
Effect: Anyone breathing the fumes during the enchanting feels romantic love
for someone else (or multiple someones) so long as she actually had romantic
feelings for that person (those people) before and some vestige remains. The
spell's effects last one lunar month but any real feelings arising because of
time spent together during the effect remains.
Resist: Willpower/Occultism
Restore Soul
Quick Cast: No
Requirements: Candles and a ten minute incantation. A fragment from the body
of the person whose soul was stolen.
Effect: The target's soul returns to her body. It cannot be stolen again for
three hours. It will not return the soul of a vampire or dead person.
Power Level VII
Break the Wards of Magic
Quick Cast: No
Requirements: Purple, magical powder made from lavender, sage, and powdered
moonstone. It takes thirty minutes to make the powder.
Effect: When the powder is sprinkled on a magical barrier, the barrier is
destroyed as long as it is power level 7 or less. The powder remains good for
one lunar month.
Circle of Kayless
Quick Cast: No
Requirements: Six casters, all of which must know the demon's name and have
some sort of connection to it. An object purified by keeping it in darkness
for one month and anointing it daily.
Effect: The casters light candles and chant for an hour. When cast the demon
is bound inside an object. All attempts to summon the demon while the demon is
trapped fail. The item the demon is bound into becomes covered in text. If the
text is read it is freed. If the item is destroyed, the demon is banished from
the world but can be summoned or return on it's own. If the casters have no
specific object to bind the demon into, the demon can choose object it is
forced into.
Resist: Willpower/Occultism
Energy Barrier
Quick Cast: Yes
Requirements: Two Quick Casters would chant: 'Enemies, fly and fall, circling
arms, raise a wall.' Other casters draw a stylized circle in colored chalk
around the area for two hours.
Effect: The area is surrounded by an invisible barrier. The barrier can be up
to 99 feet in diameter. The only things that can get through the barrier are
are and light. Everything else is blocked. The caster can open a temporary
gate in the barrier. Unless dissolved by the caster, the barrier lasts 4 x
Success Level hours.
Lover's Curse
Quick Cast: No
Requirements: Various herbs and ointments, a picture of the caster's lover or
ex-lover. The caster must have a strong emotional connection to the target for
this spell to work.
Effect: This is a curse. Everyone who once loved the target now hates her.
People the target loves tend to die messy deaths and causes the target
believes in turn against her. The target also gains five points of the Bad
Luck quality.
Resist: Willpower/Occultism
Magical Wards
Quick Cast: No
Requirements: Repeatedly draw a circle around the protected area with a
special wand and chant for fifteen minutes.
Effect: A barrier is created. It can only be pierced by someone who helped
create it. The protected area can be no larger than a yard in diameter.
Rat-ification spell
Quick Cast: Yes
Requirements: A short phrase invoking the power of Hecate.
Effect: The target is transformed into a rat, losing human intelligence and
awareness. Her life points are reduced to one-third their normal total and all
behavior must be rat-like. You know. Cheese. Mazes. Beating up grey cats named
Tom. This effect only works on Humans (including magically powered humans
like Slayers and Witches) and remains in effect until undone.
Resist:Willpower/Occultism
Teleportation
Quick Cast: Yes
Requirements: A powder made of silver, mandrake root, and vervatine. Quick Casters only need to throw the powder on the target. Others must also chant for five minutes.
Effect: The target is instantly teleported up to 100 miles away from the caster. If the caster scores one more success than is needed to cast the spell, she can determine where the target ends up, roughly. The spell will not teleport anyone inside a solid object or underwater.

Power Level VIII
Corsheth's Bind Person
Quick Cast: Yes
Requirements: The caster looks at the victim, points, and says a short
invocation to Corsheth.
Effect: The target of this spell is instantly transformed into magical energy
and stored inside an object previously anointed by dragon-blood oil. The
victim is aware and awake while trapped but unable to do anything. Breaking
the object frees the victim. The spell works on whoever the caster is looking
at and pointing to, so a well-timed shove or use of a mirror can change the
intended target or disrupt the spell entirely.
Resist: Willpower/Occultism
Non-Violence Spell
Quick Cast: No
Requirements: Three or more casters. A whole lot of time.
Effect: This spell is cast on a location. Anyone inside the location is
surrounded by a force field that protects them from all harm. Anyone trying to
harm another is blasted, taking the casters' cumulative Willpower x Success
Levels of the casting in damage. The ritual does not protect property and will
not affect someone, either positively or negatively, who is outside the
building.
Retrieval Spell
Quick Cast: No
Requirements: A pentagram with a circle drawn in it. Five black candles. A
horn, some black stones, and some fur. A small pile of stones is set in the
center.
Effect: This spell retrieves something or someone that has been lost (but not
stolen). If cast right, the lost item or person replaces the stones in the
center of the circle.
Reverse Transformation
Quick Cast: No
Requirements: Reading a short but obscure incantation.
Effect: Magical transformations are reversed. Frogs become princes. Rats
become witches. You know the drill.
