System:Fear
From DevilshireWiki
In some cases the GM might call for a Fear check, especially when someone is facing the unknown and scary for the first time. The player makes a Willpower + Willpower roll with a penalty based on the level of scariness. A vampire with game face on isn't as scary as a twenty foot tall shambling mound of death. If the player succeeds on the check, there's no problem. If the player fails, her character might be shaken, frozen in panic, or running for her life!
Example Penalties
Vampire with her game face on -1
Hideous demon/monster -½ creature's attractiveness rounded down.
Some blood splatter -1
Bloody body -2
R rated gore -3
The Hostel -4
Shocked surprise -2
On a roll of # you are...
7-8, are startled and drop to the bottom of the initiative order.
5-6, are freaked. You can only perform defensive actions this turn.
3-4, are panicked. You run like hell for 1 turn. Make a new fear roll next turn.
<=2, are major wigged. You're throwing up and running and screaming and pretty much out of the fight entirely.
