Judith Devlin is a graduate student attending DevU. She is the sister of Jewel Devlin, half-sister of Zach Devlin, and cousins with Amber Devlin, Saint Devlin, Rose Devlin, Magda Devlin, Lily Devlin, and Seth Devlin. Judith is known as the polyglot of the Devlin Family.

History
Judith Rose Devlin was born in 1984, the first daughter of Reginald Dean Devlin and Melanie Anne Devlin, and a grandchild of August Devlin. Judith entered this world a few months early, premature and weak. She was a sickly child, spending much of her growing years indoors. Being a member of a very rich family eased her boredom; she had a nanny for company when she could not play with her siblings and cousins, and a governess for schooling until she was considered healthy enough to attend 'regular' school. She also had access to the family's immense library of classic literature - and some not so classic books, as she was able to sneak a peak at some of the arcane tomes in the occult section. She was fascinated, overall, with language. How a word was said, what it meant, the evolution of dialect and accent.
She was a girl of many surprises. Learning to read at age 2. Mastering her Governess' native French at age 6, and getting her feet wet in Italian at 8. Her father realized that he had a budding polyglot on his hands and got her tutors. She soaked up Latin, aiding in her understanding of the languages she already knew. Then she tackled German.
And so her studies started in earnest. Languages, her regular schoolwork. She took it all in like a sponge. Her only regret was her lack of stamina. When it began to cut into her learning time, she knew that she had to find a solution. She was 14 years old when curiosity led her to the more forbidden tomes in the occult library, and it was there that she found a solution to the problem of her ill health. It was, as much as she could figure, a spell to steal vitality from another person. The only trick was that the victim had to be related. Of course, in Devilshire, there are more than enough candidates, as far as the Devlins are concerned. With more research, she was able to find a suitable candidate, a third cousin who was a Varsity running back, just enough relation to be considered, a far enough branch on the family tree that he seemed inconsequential.
The spell succeeded, far beyond Judith's expectations. She became a normally healthy teenager. But, there was a price, and a twist. The price was the cousin's life. He collapsed suddenly during practice and died. The twist was that, unknown to everyone, the boy had untapped magical potential (probably as a pusher). Judith sucked up his mundane /and/ arcane energy, and this led to her bizarre regeneration ability. Cuts healed in minutes. A broken leg healed in days (she wore a fake cast for the full time so as not to attract suspicion). And to top it all off, she could also steal the life force of others, no longer needing the ritual. She learned to control this quickly, after withering a few houseplants by mistake. She publically attributed her new found health to good diet and a slow but persistant regimen of exercise. She knew that if anyone found out about her new powers, she would be in grevious trouble, so she did her level best to not attract suspicion, even among her family.
On her sixteenth birthday, just before she was to leave town to attend Groton Academy, Judith learned The Truth. Her family worshipped the Black Goddess, The Devourer Of All That Is Holy. It was their special secret, what made them even more special than they already were. And Judith accepted it. In fact, she became a total zealot. She already was a murderer, why not join the one who wanted to destroy the good?
After Groton Academy, she came home to attend Devilshire University, studying Linguistics. She added Russian to the list of languages she spoke fluently; privately, she also picked up the language of the Kaliff demons, all the better to communicate with them while doing errands for her Grandfather in the small demon community in town. Now, at the age of 22, she has a Bachelors, and is pursuing graduate work in Linguistics as well at DevU. Arcanely, she is considering a study of the syntax and grammar of demon languages, along with her occult studies. She has amassed an occult library of her own over the years, and guards it jealously.
Personality
Judith is an archetypical Ice Queen. Cool, distant, aloof, cruel (though not as cruel as her sister Jewel). She is capable of showing emotion, but tries to keep it all behind a frigid, rational facade. She hates being touched, partially because she does not want anyone accidentally discovering her life draining abilities. This has also led to her growing paranoia.

Cyrus Swann, Sr. was recently killed in an attack by what looked like Seekers. It was a setup by the Houndmaster and has plunged the Devlins and Swanns into war. The Swanns want revenge for the death of the Swann patriarch, and right now the Devlins are fighting on two fronts: against Swann incursions, and against any Hound attacks that would either be directly againt them or more frameup jobs.
