Devilshire University
From DevilshireWiki
Devilshire University was founded in 1705 thanks to a grant given by Sherman Devlin. Since that time it has grown into a pretty nice local university following in the New England tradition. Currently it educates, on average, 2700 students per year in undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate studies. DevU also strives to serve the local community by offering a limited number of accredited and non accredited courses at nights and weeks, charging only a modest fee for town residents.
Current tuition is approximately AFFORDABLE dollars a year. Room and board adds an additional AFFORDABLE AMOUNT of dollars to the bill. Most students get some form of financial aid. It's like a state school--think UMass. Everyone makes fun of it but they pull in some really great, highly qualified teachers!
The school's sports teams are the Devilshire Black Hounds. Except for the crew squad, none of the teams are noted for winning games. The school colors are red and black.
Students in the School of Independent Scholarship are sometimes derisively called 'SISies' by other students on campus.
For two weeks before finals and during the two weeks of finals itself, the campus library offers a 'lock-in' program. Staff will lock students in study rooms overnight. Once in, the student cannot leave except for an emergency. Intercoms allow the locked-in students to communicate with library staff.
It is rumored the special collections department of the library holds strange and bizarre tomes. Access to special collections is prohibited to freshman and sophomores. Upperclassmen, graduate students, post-graduate students, professors, and visiting scholars can gain access to special collections by appointment only.
The university is divided into five schools: the Devilshire College of Language and the Arts, the College of Computers and Sciences, the School of Law and Business, the College of Medicine, and the School of Independent Scholarship.

Devlin College of Language and the Arts
When Devilshire split into separate schools for arts and sciences during the early 1800s, the arts college was named after James Devlin, the man who made the university possible. The Devilshire College of Language and Arts offers the following majors for all levels of study: Ancient Languages, Anthropology, Art History, Classical Languages, Classics, Dance, English, Geography, History, Journalism, Library Science, Linguistics, Literature, Music, Philosophy, Physical Education, Psychology, Sociology, Structural Arts, Theater, Theology, and Visual Arts.
College of Computers and Sciences
The College of Computers and Sciences offers the following majors for all levels of study: Astronomy, Biology, Biochemistry, Botany, Chemistry, Computer Sciences, Geology, Mathematics, Metallurgy, Physics, and Statistics.
School of Law and Business
In addition to training future lawyers, the school offers the following programs at most levels: Accounting, Business, Business Ethics, Business Finance, Communication, Criminal Justice, Economics, and a general Pre-Law program.
College of Medicine
The college is attached to Essex County Hospital and trains doctors in a variety of specializations. In addition, it offers the following programs: Biomedicine, Midiwfery, Nursing, Nurse Practitioner, and Pharmacology.
School of Independent Scholarship
The School of Independent Scholarship allows undergraduates to create their own program of studies. This lets students pursue a major not normally offered at the university or, often, at any university. About one forth of undergraduates are enrolled through the School of Independent Scholarship. Examples of past majors include: Broadcast Journalism, Cartography, Game Theory and Design, Information Technology, Marine Biology, Occult Studies, and Ornithology.
Housing
Devilshire University provides dormitories for students. Freshman are required to live on campus unless they obtain a special exemption from the administration. There are two students to every dorm, though those with medical conditions which require privacy or space will not be assigned a roommate. Most of the dorms are co-ed and rooms are randomly assigned, with roommates always being in the same graduating class. Dorms open the weekend before classes begin and close on the final day of classes. Students unable to find housing for winter break may petition to remain in their room.
After their first semester, students can request a specific roommate or to be assigned to themed housing. Each themed housing group takes up a floor of one of the dorm buildings. Current themes being offered are: Single gender housing (everyone on the floor is either male or female), teetotaler housing (no alcohol allowed), scholarship housing (mandatory quiet after 9pm on weekdays and 10pm on weekends), and international housing (for students from foreign countries or for native students who want to better experience other cultures). All dorms are tobacco free zones.
Town ordinances prohibit official Greek houses off-campus. Therefore, the University owns a series of houses on the edge of campus which it rents out to fraternities and sororities. One of the terms of occupancy is that the Greek organization pay the salary of a 'house mother', a combination of live-in housekeeper and chaperone. While the house mother's salary is paid for by the organization, he or she is technically employed by the University itself.
Organizations
Like many universities, Devilshire hosts chapters of various Greek organizations. While not the status symbol they once were, fraternities and sororities remain at the heart of campus social life. In addition to the traditional social groups, a number of honor and professional fraternities are present on campus as well. University regulation forbids first semester freshman from rushing or pledging a Greek organization. In recent years, the University has cracked down on excessively cruel hazing and alcohol being served to minors at Greek-hosted events.

3. They have the sponsorship of a faculty advisor.
4. They fill out all the appropriate paperwork.
