Adam Camden is a con man and hustler. He's also a wizard specializing in demonology. He's currently on the run from the Demon he sold his soul to. Too bad he has no idea who that demon is.

Background

There Once was a Boy from Nantucket...

Adam Camden was born in Providence, Rhode Island on November 18, 1978. The only son of David and Evelyn Camden, his father was a psychologist with a private practice and his mother a massage therapist. Hippies, pagans and nonconformists, the Camdens had a very liberal household where pretty much anything was allowed. As a result, Adam was exposed to a diversity of experiences that kids his age normally were not exposed to. Needless to say, Adam was not your normal child growing up. Though personable and generally liked, he was always a bit of a misfit. An air of the odd and strange hung about him like a cloud. He was always known as “that weird kid” or “that strange guy”. As a young child in grade school, this was a bit of a burden. But being the rebel that he was, instead of lamenting his situation, Adam embraced it whole heartedly. If freak he was then freak he would be, in spades. And to that end he started really dressing and acting the part. Affectation in time became lifestyle. If it were weird or esoteric or out of the norm or alternative in anyway, Adam got involved in it. This included the Occult in which Adam took particular interest.

Little Goth blue come blow your horn.

<div style="clear:left"/> By the time he was in high school, things took a turn for Adam. What was once a social deficit became a social benefit, of sorts. As rumors and stories about his odd lifestyle and weird beliefs spread amongst the student populace, Adam gained a sort of cult following. Geek and freaks and miscreants would be drawn to him, all curious to see if the stories about him were true. Adam quickly came to understand the usefulness of this ‘fame’ and began to play to his audience. He would regale them with stories of his escapades and astounding experiences (most of them false at the time). This had two results: 1) It expanded Adam’s already dubious reputation and gave him a form of notoriety amongst his peers; 2) It earned him a group of devoted groupies who emulated his every behavior and hung on his every word. In essence, he had his own cult with him as the center. Embolden by having a group of followers who pretty much did whatever he wanted, Adam became riskier and started to live out many of the various experiences that he use to tell stories about.

The Power of Three

What had started as childish pursuits eventually grew to serious endeavors by college. Enter Amelia Lanier and Will Herbet. Amelia was beautiful and sultry and seductive, an inspiring model and fashion icon. Plus she knew her way around a grimoire and had access to her family’s collection of rare tomes. Will was a talented poet and playwright who was a deft hand at languages. Unlike the others who surrounded Adam and were pretenders, this pair matched Adam’s fervor and curiosity, measure for measure. Together, they explored the dark side of life. Drugs and alcohol; crime; sexual deviance; the occult: if it was taboo or off-limits they would experiment with it. For the trio off-limits or forbidden was simply an invitation for them to get involved with it. It wasn’t long before the Terrible Trio’s curiosity and lusts lead them down the path of dark magic. Amelia discovered a spell in her family’s collection. The ritual was supposedly a ‘Devil’s pact’ which would allow the caster to invoke a powerful entity which would grant his or her greatest desire in exchange for their soul. After much discussion, the trio decided to cast the spell.

A Midsummer's Night Dream?

On a dark midsummer’s night, the trio cast gathered their reagents, found the perfect location and cast their invocation. But despite their preparation and belief, nothing happened. Incensed, the youths parted ways. But that night, each had a dream, the same dream. They were gathered in an ancient ruin temple before a great table. A wild storm raged outside. Bound on the table was a white mare. Before them stood a dark man, clad in ornate robes, bearing a red book. They were each made to sign in blood. The ‘man’ then emblazoned them each with a sigil to signify their pact. “Three thrice three, be it done unto thee” he intoned as the deal was struck, the bargain made.

The Sign of ???

Despite their shared dream the night of the ritual, the fortunes of the would-be wizards didn't change. Disillusioned, their friendship soon waned and they parted ways. Will went on to school where he pursued a literary degree. Amelia went on to study fashion. Adam continued his investigation into the Occult, still convinced that he could uncover the secrets to true power and knowledge. Over the years, he flitted through a variety of professions: rock star, spiritual guru, tattoo artist, sex toy salesman, drug runner, wizard for hire. He was little more than a con-man and hustler using his various talents to survive. Then, 3 years ago, he received a very strange package. It came with no mailing info. It was a large red book which contained a variety of spells and incantations. It was exactly the type of info he had been searching for. Yet something was vaguely familiar about this red book. It was the same one he had seen in his dream, the one that he and his friends had written their names into. What’s more, the book bore the same symbol that had been inscribed on Adam’s hand.

Another Fine Mess

Faced with this puzzle, Adam began researching the book trying to solve the mystery it represented. What he found would change his life for the worse. Soon after getting into college, Will Herbet wrote a piece for a literary class, was discovered by an agent and became a published writer. He had a meteoric rise and was hailed as the next Poet Lauriat of his generation. Then, unexpectedly, he committed suicide; three years to the day the pact was made. Following his death, Amelia was discovered by a famous photographer and became a supermodel. Quickly, she shot through the rank of New York’s fashion world, becoming one of the youngest executives a major fashion magazine. Then, three years to the day of Will’s death, she died in a tragic accident. It was on the very day of her death that the strange red book had been delivered to Adam.

Adam quickly realized that it was all tied into the Devil’s deal they had made. Indeed, each of them was given what they had desired and within 3 years, each of their lives was forfeit. ‘Three thrice three’ as the demon had spoken. Now with only a year left until his third year, Adam is on a desperate search to find the Demon he is bound too and to undo his bargain. His Occult contacts have suggested that he make contact with the Moore family. Famed in the supernatural community, perhaps they can undo the spell that binds him, or at the least help him survive his third year.

Personality

Con Man
Scam Artist, Swindler, Confidence Man, Trickster... All these are apt terms to describe Adam. Basically he's a liar, thief and deceiver who gains people's trust then steals from them. He is selfish and self-interested. He'll tell someone whatever they want to hear, as long as it gets him his objective. He's completely untrustworthy in every sense.

It's so good to be bad.

<div style="clear:left"/>

Curious
Despite his less stellar qualities, Adam has a very inquisitive mind. He is not one to take things at face value and always wants to find out what lies beneath the surface of a thing. This is particularly true of things pertaining to the occult and supernatural. Perhaps if he had learned to quench his thirst for knowledge (and power) earlier in life, he wouldn't be in the fine mess he's in now.

Power Hungry
Adam has one driving goal in life and that is to acquire power. Not political influence, wealth or social standing but true power. Supernatural Power. Magic. Hocus Pocus. Wonder working and Wizardry. The Voodoo that you do. Heck, he wants it so bad he'd probably sell his soul to get some. Wait a minute...he's already done that.

Jack Ass
Adam is a real son-of-a-b!tch, to put it lightly. He is a cynical, smarmy, condescending jerk. He is rude, insulting and opinionated. He's also, surprisingly personable and friendly when he wants to be. He just doesn't want to be most of the time.

Wizardry
Adam is a wizard. True to form, he tends to follow an eclectic path having studied differing and diverse traditions and "schools" of spell casting. However, his particular talents do lie in the area of ritual magic and demonology. In other word, he knows all about the mystic art of summoning and (supposedly) controlling demons. Hmm...Seems like someone may need a refresher course or two.

Seeker of the Unknown
Adam is a devotee of the occult and a student of THINGS MAN WAS NOT MEANT TO KNOW. The strange, mysterious, unexplained, preternatural happenstance of life is all what Adam's about. The supernatural is his bread and butter and he'd be hard pressed not to drop everything to gain more mystic knowledge (for all the good it's done him so far).

Blood Sugar Death Magik.

Adam's Grimoire is a jumble of different spells, enchantments and incantations. Despite his eclectic approach to spell casting, he magick tends to focus on the following areas:

  • Deception & Trickery - Adam tends to favor those spells which will enable him to con and cheat others. A true charlatan at heart, he uses his occult skills to further these ambitions.

  • Control - It's all about the power, baby. And what use is power if you can exert it over another. These class of enchantments allow Adam to exert influence over others, whether it be simply freezing them in place or exerting influence over their thoughts and mind.

  • Demonology - The Wicked Wizard of the West is a slave to the dark infernal powers. It is to them that he owes his knowledge, power and very soul. It's no surprise then that much of his magik deals with that. Adam is truly a student of the Black Arts.

People

Come up and See me Sometime

Harvey Girl-Man, Attorney at Law
Leslie Whitcomb - What's there to say about the Good Professor? She keeps surprising me over and over again. There are so many facets to this person, even I'd get exhausted exploring them all. Have I met my match with this one?

<div style="clear:left"/>

Bookish Babe
Emma Bailey - What's it about Librarians and their tight sweaters, pencil skirts and taciturn personality that's such a turn on? I wonder if she'll paddle me if I'm a naughty boy? Grrr!

<div style="clear:left"/>

Took 2 of him. Don't call me in the morning.
Thomas Mackenzie - Nocturnal Pharmacist. He plays at being human, but I know better. Well....I think I know better. In any case, I've appointed him my envoy into things Supernatural in Devilshire. We'll see how that works out.

<div style="clear:left"/>

Silly Rabbit. Tricks are for kidz.
Rabbit Evans - Wascally Witch. For someone so young, he's get a lot of mojo. And he's cute too. Blessed be indeed.

<div style="clear:left"/>

I hate you so much right now!

Pink on the outside...
Artie Paplosian - T'would seem that little Pink Muffet is out on her Tuffet. With J. Moore Esquire no longer in business, I wager she's hurting for gainful employment. I pity the fool who hires this ditz!

Moore trouble than he's Worth.
Wentworth Moore - The low rent Moore. Like the rest of them, he's a royal pain in the @$$. A serious piece of man-meat but not worth the aggravation.

NPCs

Two for...
...tea?
Pauline & Reggie from the Boho - Adam stumbled in tempted by the smell of caffeine. But he also wanted breakfast. They told him to go to Maggie's. After a bit of personal interaction, they came to a fair trade. Pauline and Reggie gave Adam some coffee and pancakes. He gave them some sausage...

Recent Events

Spring

Somehow the Wicked Wizard got himself pulled into a convoluted plot. It was a Fairy Tale come to life: dashing Prince turned evil shadow demon seeks to find and destroy a sleeping Princess hidden in an invisible castle. Someone has way too much time on their hands.

Winter

The Maleficent Mage has been relatively quite during the Winter seasons. He must have been hibernating or something. That is until he got pulled into this secret plot to replace everyone in Devilshire with their Mirrorverse duplicates. Man, the Universe really hates Adam.

Fall

Adam and Leslie continue their 'on again', 'off again' relationship. Still without any official status, they continue to get closer and closer. A few secrets have been share, a bit of intimacy but no full disclosure. There's a lot more to come on this front.

Enter Tory Henessey. The Young Artist has definitely peaked Adam's interest, not just because of his talent and sense of the macabre but because of his yet to be defined relationship to Leslie. Can you say 'menage a trois'?

Having lost track of the Demon Lord, Alocer, the Wicked Wizard has shifted his focus to the Vampire Pharmacist, Tom. And it seems to have paid off. Tom has setup a meeting between the Wicked Wizard and a Gypsy Enchantress. If this woman is the real deal, things are going to get MUCH more interesting from here on out.

Summer

True to form, Adam has already managed to upset and ostracize a large portion of Devilshire already. Geez....who knew that selling enchanted sexual aides would be such bad form. This town really needs to lighten up.

Adam has managed to get himself on the wrong side of Jackson Moore. Note to the class, you don't want to be on the bad side of the Moores. Just trust me on this.

Amidst all the death threats and beatings he's earned for himself, Adam has also managed to make contact with a few of the Supernatural denizen of Devilshire namely the Evalium Lord, Duke Alocer and the Vampire Pharmacist, Tom. The Wicked Wizard plans to exploit these relationships to his full advantage.

Could it be? Love amongst the rushes? It would appear on the surface that our man Adam has developed an intense lust for Professor Whitcomb. One might even say that he fancies her. Things between then are moving forward despite Leslie's efforts to the contrary.

Oh, did we mention? Adam hates hates hates hates hates Artie Paplosian. Absolutely hates her, that is. Unfortunately she is connected to Duke and to Jackson Moore, so for the moment she is untouchable.

Trivia

Adam's character is supposed to be written out of the show in August. The Producers are putting it to a fan vote: Kill the Wicked Wizard off or find some way to save him?
